OVERVIEW
The New York State Department of Health is launching a digital media campaign promoting DropTheVape, a free, confidential text-based program that helps young people quit vaping nicotine. The campaign features NYS Department of Health-developed ads that illustrate the intensity of nicotine addiction and the control it can have over young people, while connecting them with support to quit.
Vaping remains common among young New Yorkers, with 13.1% of high school students and 16.2% of young adults ages 18–24 currently reporting e-cigarette use. National data also show that many young people who vape want to quit, underscoring the need for accessible cessation support.
CAMPAIGN DETAILS
The campaign will run statewide from September 15–28, 2026, focusing on New Yorkers ages 13–24 through social media, streaming video and audio, and digital search advertising. Placements include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Disney+, Hulu, YouTube, Spotify, and other digital platforms.
