In February's newsletter, Tobacco Free Communities | Delaware, Otsego & Schoharie (TFC-DOS) touched on how and why menthol is used to target the Black population, also including a 15-minute documentary link called Black Lives, Black Lungs that explains how the tobacco industry transformed in “the African Americanization of menthol cigarettes.” The newsletter also includes a short article on how the global pandemic, COVID-19, has offered opportunities for youth vapers to quit. ...
TFC-DOS Teams with Cancer Services on Op-Ed
Community Engagement Coordinator Jennifer Hill partnered with Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist Cali Riese from the Central Region Cancer Services Program to write an op-ed about cancer and tobacco use in the times of COVID-19. The article offers important information and statistics regarding cancer screening and tobacco use, as well as resources to utilize especially during the global pandemic. The op-ed was published in The Daily Star and can be read here.
